Jenny + Tamson // Brand Park Japanese Tea Garden, Glendale, CA Wedding

There’s nothing like getting to relive the moments of a wedding day with tangible printed memories in person with my clients. Two Saturdays ago had an incredible time doing just that with Jenny and Tamson when we synced up for a live viewing session at Coffee Commissary here in West Hollywood.  Jenny and Tamson grew up in similar circles of friends in the same town going to the same school but didn’t end up noticing each other until after college when their friend circles once again reunited them at a party. Funny how life works itself out.

Their wedding was one of the funnest weddings I’ve been to. Set at the Japanese Tea Garden in Brand Park, here in LA, Jenny and Tamson’s wedding day went off without a hitch. The two had envisioned a day focused on people, family, and friends. They wanted a day that would highlight their heritage infused with a bit of their own taste. Every carefully curated element of the day reflected their discriminating taste – from the personalized foil-embossed invites, to the DIY pin-wheel theme, to the venue, to the delicious multi-course Chinese banquet dinner and so much more. One of my favorite parts about their day was how they adopted a traditional joy-ridden Chinese custom of personally toasting each table of guests with their families. Congrats Jenny and Tamson!

Katrina + Eric | San Gabriel, CA Rustic Backyard Garden Wedding

Did I tell you? I love backyard weddings. There is just something so home-y and genuine about them. Apparently I am not the only one. Katrina and Eric have always talked about having an outdoor garden wedding and so this dream was one they made into a reality.

It is difficult to fathom that everything at a wedding can be so lovingly put together as this wedding was. Set in the backyard of the house Eric had built with his parents from foundation up, this house was a site to behold on wedding day, including the special cabana Eric built with his grandpa just months before the wedding. Eric is an incredibly friendly & creative guy whose selflessness sketches out for him a heart of gold. Talk about groom-zilla, when Katrina told him she envisioned having Italian lights on wedding day, Eric put up all the Italian lights, posts, hanging lanterns and chandelier all by himself in 3 days flat…And Katrina – well she is probably one of the most focused, motivated funny individuals I’ve met. She had the decorative details down to a T. I love how she combined magenta and teal wonderfully with garden flowers and burlap.

Capturing their endearing, genuine love for one another could not have been a sweeter experience for me. Congratulations Katrina & Eric!

I love that they had two caged parakeets at their wedding, to match their invitation.

The sweetest of surprises! This little puppy was waiting at the door with a note around its neck waiting for Katrina as she got ready in her room that morning.

Tanya | Los Angeles Bridal Photography

I’m finally posting the final Part 5 of the bridal themed shootout as promised, which was my first glimpse at Moroccan charm. I was apart of a recent shootout of about 40 photographers rotating in groups of 7 or 8 as we photographed about 5 models posing as brides. This was a really great experience being challenged to direct in an environment with tight time constraints and squeezing among others to get my shot in. We had Tanya modeling for us as our Moroccan bride. Tanya had a beautiful grace about her and though I caught her at the very end of the day I was able to capture some of these keepers. I love being surprised over and over again at the beautiful shots that are unveiled during post processing time. As the shadows were dancing away while I took these, I was able to capture the light bouncing off of her hair and the last few lingering sun rays of the southern california air filtering into my lens. Pure beauty.

Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for my first newborn session!! :-)
