Preface

Los Angeles Lifestyle and Wedding Photographer

Thanks to Robbie’s parents, a few weeks ago Robbie and I had the opportunity of celebrating our one year up in Santa Barbara, home to pretty much the best ice cream shop in the world, McConnell’s. I couldn’t help posting the shot above – overexposed and all –  the color of the mint chocolate chip was way too match-y with Robbie’s sea foam shirt for me to pass over.

Now that I’ve finally succeeded in uploading most of my past work onto this blog, I thought you deserved a little bit of a preface before I actually start posting my newer work in this new season of my art. If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I like to do a lot of different things at once and go all out with all of them simultaneously. I believe in being a jack of all trades, master to all.  Unfortunately my high aspirations don’t always work out as planned. This has been utterly counterproductive to me when it comes to photography and one of the reasons why it’s taken me so long to finally spread my wings towards what has become a life long dream of mine.

I’ve had many phases in life (among them daring skateboarder, indie music lover, and aspiring surfer like my daddy ). But then there’s some of the things I’ve always loved which I still continue to pursue today… singing, playing guitar, piano, drums, cooking, photography, being an SEO queen, avid reader, wise counselor, and then thoughtful friend and wife.  The list can go on and on and on and it’s been difficult to focus on just one thing. Life is sometimes too much fun. It wasn’t until this past July that I had a rude awakening and realized that if I never truly took my photography seriously, my dream of beginning it as a business would never fully get off the ground.

These past 8 years have been a difficult and frustrating molding process as I’ve waited and waited and WAITED until this very point when it finally felt right to launch the business. At times I lacked faith it could ever turn into or be used for something spectacular. It was sometimes discouraging for me to see peers jumping into their businesses ahead of me. Over time, I began to let go which was probably the best thing I could do. Sometimes you have to let your dreams before they can truly live. And I did just that. But every time I let it die, it seemed to resurrect itself all over again until this past July.

Through on and off seasons my portfolio, equipment pile, expertise and eye have continued to grow steadfastly as my photographic “voice” has been chiseled through thick and thin…and continues to be sculpted to this day. After waiting these long, and often, difficult years of dreaming, I can now say the time is actually right…with a steady job and Robbie and I finally established into a year of marriage the air has never seemed so fresh. This is probably one of the best times of my life and now it calls for some focus in certain areas of my passion, one of which includes photography and this blog. Thanks for reading. I hope you will be enlightened by my work and come back to visit me often!

Stay tuned for some Thailand revisited pictures!

Erika | Anytime Shoot

It was a pretty rainy but it was also pretty sunny. Erika is probably one of my favorite people to photograph…she’s always got a new story to tell through her actions.
