Valerie + David | Fullerton, CA Backyard Wedding

I was so honored when my amazing friend Melissa of Ellie Rose Photographie invited me to second shoot for her at Valerie & David’s beautiful backyard wedding.  The couple couldn’t have been a funner, more gracious couple to work with. And the details of their wedding couldn’t have been more telling of their personalities, even featuring an In-N-Out food truck and everything DIY from the men’s handmade butterfly bow ties, flower arrangements, to the “love seat” where toasts were made. What was particularly so sweet to my ears was the sound of David repeating to Valerie over the course of the night without hesitation each time….”You’re SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!” Together they make such an endearing and genuine couple whose love extends far and wide. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter!

Ryanne + Will | Fillmore, CA Country Rustic Wedding at Oak Haven Estate

Set at the beautiful Oak Haven Estate in Fillmore, CA, Ryanne and Will’s memorable day was intimately and genuinely spent with close friends and loved ones in country rustic style. Fillmore, CA is one of the few remaining southern Californian towns still laden with rich orange groves, so I was totally excited to shoot at this gem of a venue.

I love that my couples tend to go for what is elegant yet true time and time again. In Ryanne’s case, she wanted something elegant yet true to her small town roots. Ryanne wanted the wedding to be laid back, yet full of meaning, while keeping vendors local to the community. For her and William, it was about celebrating this exciting day of their lives with those who were closest to them. They didn’t want anything that wouldn’t be sincere. Cowboy boots, jeans, cowboy hats and do-it-yourself details were common motifs throughout the day. Not only that but Ryanne and Will’s hearts were so completely warmed by the company they kept and the happiness they shared with those closest to them that day. From the homemade jam wedding favors to the hand lined envelopes, to the full moon night, and the sweet celebration of these love-birds, this wedding was not one you would want to miss!

A huge thank you to my good friend and second shooter, Christina, for being my talented sidekick the entire day and helping me kick butt at this wedding!

Katrina + Eric | San Gabriel, CA Rustic Backyard Garden Wedding

Did I tell you? I love backyard weddings. There is just something so home-y and genuine about them. Apparently I am not the only one. Katrina and Eric have always talked about having an outdoor garden wedding and so this dream was one they made into a reality.

It is difficult to fathom that everything at a wedding can be so lovingly put together as this wedding was. Set in the backyard of the house Eric had built with his parents from foundation up, this house was a site to behold on wedding day, including the special cabana Eric built with his grandpa just months before the wedding. Eric is an incredibly friendly & creative guy whose selflessness sketches out for him a heart of gold. Talk about groom-zilla, when Katrina told him she envisioned having Italian lights on wedding day, Eric put up all the Italian lights, posts, hanging lanterns and chandelier all by himself in 3 days flat…And Katrina – well she is probably one of the most focused, motivated funny individuals I’ve met. She had the decorative details down to a T. I love how she combined magenta and teal wonderfully with garden flowers and burlap.

Capturing their endearing, genuine love for one another could not have been a sweeter experience for me. Congratulations Katrina & Eric!

I love that they had two caged parakeets at their wedding, to match their invitation.

The sweetest of surprises! This little puppy was waiting at the door with a note around its neck waiting for Katrina as she got ready in her room that morning.

E | Boudoir Session in Long Beach, CA

I’ll have to admit, I’m super happy with how my first boudoir shoot came out. I’ll also admit that I don’t go around doing these very often, so when I was asked to do this one I was at first shocked I was asked to do it (since it would have been my first), then completely honored because I know that having someone do a boudoir session of you can be a very vulnerable thing. The vibe we were going for was classy, casual and natural…I hope my photographs have reflected that sexy doesn’t have to mean raunchy, which really isn’t my style anyway. Here are a few of my favorites..

Romin and Naomi | Wedding at La Jolla Presbyterian Church

I love that my weddings keep getting more and more global as I keep going down this windy adventure of finding out who I was created to be behind a lens. Romin’s Persian roots and Naomi’s mix of Caucasian, Mexican and Native American blood is going to blend together to make some cute kids for sure.

It’s not all too often a couple can say they met at a Christmas party and a short while later were writing the pages of a serious love story that would one day result in marriage. Well it actually happened for Naomi and Romin, who made a Christmas party called “Bringing Sexy Back” their first meeting. Both knew right away their newfound connection was going to go somewhere. And, after months of connecting on several levels including life and faith in God, Romin made a romantic, well planned out proposal in Mexico ending in dinner with his family.  Go Romin!

I love that they made it their personal preference for wedding gifts to be made out to various support organizations they have been involved in that do justice and love people in need including prostitutes in Tijuana, orphans in the Dominican Republic / Uganda, and inner city youth in San Diego. Naomi and Romin are possibly two of the biggest hearts and personalities I know.

Located in the heart of Downtown La Jolla, their wedding and reception took place at the gorgeous 112-year-old venue, La Jolla Presbyterian Church. The day was something else and I was so happy to see it fun-filled with all of their closest family and friends. Naomi & Romin – I am so excited for your lives together!

A huge thank you to my awesome second shooter and friend, Christina Cho, for her wonderful support and talented skills that helped make this day happen!
