Luke and Esther | Intimate Nepali Chapel Wedding

Wedding season is getting off to quite a start. I have been so blessed to keep having these opportunities just fly right into my arms one by one.

Luke and Esther’s wedding was unlike many I have been to. There was no garter or bouquet toss. No bridal party. No reception. No DJ or Jay-Z or Black Eyed Peas on the dance floor, or cocktail hour or reception. It was quiet and uncluttered. And though they were thousands of miles away from home, it was an intimate affair away from the traditional whir of wedding day craziness. Together with their few family and close friends they celebrated their vows. Luke and Esther decided to hold a nontraditional wedding, the American way. And I was invited to photograph the intimate gathering of fewer than ten. Thank you Luke and Esther for inviting me into your day. May these memories be remembered forever!

Tanya | Los Angeles Bridal Photography

I’m finally posting the final Part 5 of the bridal themed shootout as promised, which was my first glimpse at Moroccan charm. I was apart of a recent shootout of about 40 photographers rotating in groups of 7 or 8 as we photographed about 5 models posing as brides. This was a really great experience being challenged to direct in an environment with tight time constraints and squeezing among others to get my shot in. We had Tanya modeling for us as our Moroccan bride. Tanya had a beautiful grace about her and though I caught her at the very end of the day I was able to capture some of these keepers. I love being surprised over and over again at the beautiful shots that are unveiled during post processing time. As the shadows were dancing away while I took these, I was able to capture the light bouncing off of her hair and the last few lingering sun rays of the southern california air filtering into my lens. Pure beauty.

Thanks for stopping by! Check back next week for my first newborn session!! :-)

Ami | Southern California Bridal Photoshoot

Part trois of the bridal shootout ensues as promised! For those of you who have not seen the part 1 post, I had the opportunity of shooting at a shootout featuring 5 models modeling as international brides back in October. I have been waiting to post these for awhile. I’ve just been a bit busier than usual.

The thing about this shoot was that no matter what angle I shot in, the lighting just danced off of her skin so elegantly. That and not to mention, Ami is probably one of the most photogenic women I have ever shot. With the help of the location, we were able to pull off the look with a stone background, garden, pots and stairs.

Ami is also the first Indian bride I have had the honors to shoot. If there’s one thing to know about me, I love cultures and photographing the intricate details in them. Ami’s dress is a beautiful one and I wanted to be sure I got all of the details. Thank you Ami for allowing me to photograph you. Enjoy!

Sara | San Juan Capistrano Bridal Shoot

I won’t lie, taking these stylized bridal shots with Sara modeling for us probably summed up to be one of my favorite sessions done to date. Part Trois of the International Brides series ensues. I had the opportunity of shooting with about 40 other photographers, rotating in groups of about 7-8 with each model. What I love capturing the most are the emotions of it all.  Elegance and poise were imbued into every shot taken of her. Not only was the lighting stunningly perfect, I loved the purity of her gorgeous white gown topped off with the poofiness of the silk chiffon, mixed in with her reddish locks. As always – way too many good ones to choose from!

Yiyi | San Juan Capistrano Bridal Shoot

Part deux of the international brides here we come. Lately I’ve been an editing machine at home after work – with so many shoots to keep track of and then finally pumping my business cards out. Photography life just continues to get better and better.

Thanks to Yiyi who was modeling as a stunning Chinese bride at the last shootout I went to with her traditional ‘cheongsam’ dress and umbrella. Pretty much the epitome of elegance. One of the best parts about this shootout was that there were so many little nooks and crannies for us to find places to shoot it was nearly impossible to run out of ideas. The owners of this home were completely okay with us taking over their property for a good five hours without charging us a cent. The sun was so yummy and the rim light over her head. Perfect.
