Diaries of Nepal 01

We really did it. Packed our bags, left our jobs, our cars, families, friends, pretty much everything and moved to Nepal with 4 suitcases for 9 months to give our lives to this country…a country where the average per capita income is US $1,137 per year, a dozen eggs costs $1, and a 1 person bus ride is less than $.15.

It’s not often I get to live out a “dream” (literally), move someplace else, and start life all over again. We are beyond ecstatic to be here, full of life, yet we are totally inadequate, and entirely humbled to have this opportunity to experience a new life all over again. Rich landscapes of barley and corn..the taste of fresh samosas, the sound of monsoon rains, clean laundry blowing atop Kathmandu rooftops, a wisp of burning trash, cows grazing in the field, no-rule roads, and so much more.

Already we’ve experienced so much yet so little. Hello, Nepal. Here’s to our first 2.5 weeks.

Jen // Tropical Inspired Bridal Shower, Huntington Beach, CA

Jen is one of my dearest friends from college. In two days she is getting married.  Jen’s tropical-inspired bridal shower for was full of precious details outlining the colors in coral and turquoise, to represent Jen’s love for the beach, and tropical things. Her personality and infectious laughter are as vibrant as all of the details below. It was so beautiful seeing how much overwhelming love and support went into making all the details of this shower. My favorite parts were the pin the moustache on Mike’s face, making puppets of Jen + Mike’s babies, plus that oh-so-delicious fruit tart.

The day I moved into my college dorms freshman year Jen and I became fast friends. Like me, she liked to challenge things, wear board shorts, attempt to surf, listen to my kind of music, get analytical, be meaningful, love others, think smart, go on adventures and so much more. My kinda girl. Fast forward 5 years later and she is getting married to an amazing man who adores her more than I have ever seen any man adore her before.  I couldn’t be any happier. Congratulations you two. Here’s to many more !

Third Year Anniversary

Three years ago I married the most handsome, amazing groom, and my best friend at a family built beach club in Santa Monica. Today marks the third anniversary since our unforgettably, beautiful summer day back in 2010. Our wedding day (which was pre-Pinterestoric times) was one of the best days of our lives and couldn’t have been made possible without the love and help of all our closest family and friends. I remember smiling from ear to ear the entire day wondering if my cheeks would ever be able to learn how to frown ever again. The location of our dreams, the tastiest food, the most special flowers, a simple wedding dress, and the best friends and family to celebrate this day with made it pure joy. Today I decided to take a little walk down memory lane in honor of the day…enjoy!

Details I still smile at… getting ready at the Drybar, the best deal on invitations, grandma and grandpa singing, my uncle and cousin playing the strings, my sister’s calligraphy on invitations, signs hand-cut and hand-made by our best friends, hand making party favors with lychee jelly and sees candies, a delicious non-tiered coconut cake, a tea ceremony in honor of my heritage, feathers in our florals, our wedding slideshow, totally inappropriate messages written all over our car and all the love and happiness in the world that a family could ever bestow upon me. We are so thankful to each and everyone of our friends and family who have brought us to where we are now. Here’s to 3 years of sweet marriage!
