Erica’s Backyard DIY Bridal Shower

With just 17 days until their wedding, last month I was invited to document Erica’s special day of being showered by the love of her closest family and friends. I absolutely love capturing small details in general so I was in heaven when I was able to capture these, which were so lovingly put together by Erica’s bridesmaids. Set in a cozy backyard in Downey with the most beautiful lavendar trees in the background, the afternoon was set up to be a memorable one.

Elegant Italian lights as well as hanging paper dresses stood above the white linen tables which were decorated with fresh white hydrangeas. From the “Table of Love” where encouragements and marriage tips were written, to a handmade book of photographs and loving words of the invited guests,  to the cutest “From Miss to Mrs.” bunting EVER… I just could not stop capturing the abundance of keepsake details I know Erica will treasure forever.  Congrats Erica and Brandon! I couldn’t be more blessed to call you friends.

Erika and Alyson | Rancho Palos Verdes Lifestyle Photography

After being busy on Instagram taking amazing smart phone photos of obscenely delicious foods and being busy with three weddings in the last 3 weeks, I am back with a bang from a week off of my blog.

There are few friends I call sisters, and these are two of them. Sweet souls, Erika and Alyson are. In March I got the opportunity of playing with my friends and revisiting what really stokes my fire. What started as a passion of mine years ago taking photographs of ordinary friends in unseen ways  has really carved my art out into what it is today.

In the last few weeks with the help of this New York Times best seller I have been dissecting what makes me truly feel fulfilled the most and with that came the decision to start a gratitude list until I reach 1,000. With today’s list comes…

  1. Wide open fields.
  2. Friends who know how to live well.
  3. Being free.
  4. Doing art.

It’s what makes me happy. Art makes me tick. And now..a little experimentation with broad daylight, sunflare, and a reflector…happy looking!

Katie | French Infused Modern Vintage Bridal Shower

I have seriously been wanting to do one of these for awhile now so the minute I was invited to shoot this sweet French infused modern vintage bridal shower for Katie, I jumped on the opportunity! Stylized by who other than her talented maid of honor, Melissa Klausman of Ellie Rose Photographie and bridesmaids, the shower was as fun as it was memorable. Tying in lace, lockets, architectural salvage and vintage books owned by Melissa husband, the colors of sea foam, pink and gray were spread around.  Katie is a gorgeous almost-hitched bride whose inner warmth and huge heart draws others in like a magnet. All of the love and care that was put into the minutest of details to make this shower memorable was a huge testament to just how special person she is, not to mention all of her friends have incredibly sweet souls to match. Melissa, you did mega amazing work here as an event planner. Congratulations to Katie and Joseph – 25 more days and counting!

Lexi | Arcadia Lifestyle Session

Last month I was asked by the lovely and talented ladies at Just Fab, Inc. to photograph the cutest little four-year-old girl EVER! Lexi has her modeling finesse down to a T. At four, I was barely learning how to suck my thumb and learning how to not cut up leather chairs. I was incredibly honored to do this lifestyle shoot for their first sample line coming to boutiques and stores this Fall!  Just Fab Inc.’s clothes are designed for girls that want to add an extra sparkle to everyday life and include all things adorable from skirts, tops, leggings and coats. Of course, there is a pettiskirt (tutu) for every occasion.  The “FAB” in Just Fab Inc. stands for three characters Carrie developed named Flora, Ava and Betsy – soon to be introduced in the future.

Thanks for stopping by! E-mail me here to leave me a lovely note or schedule your session today.

Hard Rock Cafe Inspired Rockabilly Shoot, Part 1 | Orange County Lifestyle Photography

Last month I had the really awesome opportunity of shooting at a shootout with about 40 other photographers under the leadership of Matthew SavilleJessica Elizabeth and Robert TranPaul SchaeferKaylee Sizemore, and Hanssie Trainor at a Hard Rock Cafe inspired 70’s Pin-Up photoshoot with five models in Orange County. Biker babes, tattoos, motorcycles and classic cars…the whole shebang. From the street, this yard of rich heritage could hardly have been noticed. The owners’ hobby? You guessed right. Collecting rusty old facades, classic cars, trailers and nicknacks in their backyard. As a result, we had way too many fun nooks to count. Tina Burns was the first up and a true beauty. Thanks to our talented make-up artists Jennette Pulecio (lead MUA) and Denise Marquez. For the period hair styling we had Shyan Bailey (lead hair stylist), David LiraJade Gallo, and Jaime Castillo. And of course the shoot’s styling was done by the beautiful Kaylee Sizemore of The Tangled Vine who kindly donated the awesome clothing and accessories. The light was a bit harsh but definitely provided a paradise to really get my harsh lighting skills down good. Enjoy the eye candy!
