Colin + Shannon | Downtown LA Anniversary Loveshoot

Colin & Shannon were married on a beautiful ranch in Camarillo about a year ago. Colin is a Lead Graphic Designer at MySpace.com and Shannon is studying her degree in nursing. What are they good at? Loving life and living gorgeously.  We decided to commemorate their first year of marriage by taking these photos at one of Colin’s favorite spots, Handsome Coffee Roasters in the Art District.  After that, heading back to their lovely apartment in Downtown LA to capture life around home along with their cuddly pet, Stella. Beautiful, they are. Their love? So fresh.

Christina + Katzy | Redding, CA Wintery Loveshoot

Christina and Katzy are the best kind of friends – positive, fun, and always open for an adventure among so much more. Christina has been a part of my heart for what seems like forever. We have prayed together, felt together, laughed together, starved together, and made mistakes together. The other weekend the four of us packed into a car for a memorable 8 hour mecca up to Redding, CA, home to a progressive church we all love and also to this beautiful ranch. This session was a tribute to their love for each other. They make such a cute, sweet couple!

Caitlin + Dan | Santa Monica, CA Engagement

My sister-in-law is getting married to an amazing man in May. I’m really happy for them and super excited that their upscale wedding is slated for this upcoming May 2013 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.

When I was asked to do their engagement session, I was incredibly honored because getting to capture photographs of family is such a special thing, let alone engagement photos. I love a couple things about this shoot: I love that their love ran free. I love the extra touch her live bouquet brought to the shoot. And I LOVE her dress on her.

The Salt Air Club, otherwise known as the Dirty Thirties (aka Wedding venue of yours truly!) is not just any other club. Its heritage and historical ties to Caitlin’s side of the family run deep considering the fact that they have enjoyed a long relationship with the club for four generations now.  The day couldn’t have been more perfect – bright skies and puffy white clouds down by the beach in Santa Monica made this session absolutely perfect.

Caitlin & Dan – I’m beyond excited for you two to tie the knot next May!

Venue: Salt Air Club  // Flowers: Handmade variety by Engloan Ming Snow (A thousand thanks) // Chalkboards: Erica Valencia – Thank you!

Anne & Peter | Kenyan Engagement in Griffith Park, Los Angeles

One of the things I love about photography is my connection to the cultures I photograph. As you all know, much of my business is based off of the recommendation of friends, so when Juniah recommended my work to these two lovebirds in the form of a gift certificate – MMP’s first ever, as a wedding present to them, I was totally ecstatic. Peter and Anne are soon to be wed next month in Kenya. Being that they live in the Glendale area, I decided to take them for a little fun in their neck of the woods, Griffith Park. I love that Anne wore a beautiful, vibrant green, traditional Kenyan sarong. It suits her well, doesn’t it?

Because I’m not one to be satisfied with mediocrity, for awhile now I’ve been wrestling inwardly with my photographic voice to find a style that truly represents me as an artist and the people I capture behind camera.  After hours in the darkroom struggling with what I felt right on print, I am finally leaving a session finished and posted with the satisfaction that I’ve gotten one step closer to that “voice”. Here’s to my first “Kenyan” engagement!

Congratulations Peter and Anne to your upcoming wedding on October 6! May your marriage be filled with joy overflowing.
